Preliminary judging for the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant began with all 85 contestants taking to the stage to compete in Swimwear and Evening Gown categories. Hosted by Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza, and Bahamas radio personality Ed Fields, the Preliminary Competition will lead to the selection of the top 15 finalists who will be revealed at the beginning of the telecast on Aug. 23rd. Prior to the Preliminary Competition, contestants strutted in the Bahamian designer fashion show and posed for the official swimsuit photo.
