This week’s New York Magazine features an interview with Lenny Kravitz, who owns a house in the Out Islands on the beautiful island of Eleuthera: http://nymag.com/news/intelligencer/encounter/59892/
From New York magazine: “Twenty years after he “Let Love Rule,” a certain level of public display is expected of him. Maybe he just expects it of himself. “Yeah, my shirt’ll come off sometimes,” he admits. “Or if I’m in the Bahamas,” the ancestral home of his late mother, The Jeffersons actress Roxie Roker-”I don’t wear much clothes at all. I’ll take two jeans and five T-shirts down there. If I’m hanging out on the beach, I could wear nothing.”
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism doesn’t recommend going undressed on the beach but does recommend these hot spots on Eleuthera…
Elvina’s: a local haunt where visitors, locals - and occasionally celebrities - go to relax. Tuesday and Friday night jam sessions have been known to draw the likes of Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes and Lenny Kravitz, himself.
Tippy’s: a casual beach bar and restaurant at the Pineapple Fields Hotel, where the blackboard menu with the freshest catch is constantly changing. Go on the weekends for live music to accompany an ice-cold “Tippy’s Sunrise” drink. Rooms at Pineapple Fields start at $150/night in the off-season, $200/night during high season (www.pineapplefields.com).
