Cast off for the world’s best fishing in Abaco

As the 2010 fishing season casts off, hundreds of anglers, their boats, and their families will head to Abaco for unbeatable fishing. Check out some of the highlights below:

The season kicks off April 14-17 with the launch of the inaugural All-Release Boat Harbour Billfish Challenge. One of the only all-release tournaments in the Bahamas, the Challenge is dedicated to billfish conservation, and will raise money for the Marsh Harbour Fire Department. For anglers of all levels, the tournament is sure to attract top-notch competition. With a schedule that is packed full of events, this Challenge aims to get back to basics, through traditional and keen cash competition. Check out www.AbacoBeachResort.com for all the details.

At the Bertram-Hatteras Shoot Out this April 27-May 1, tradition is king! The rivalry between the two legendary sport-fish manufacturers is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. In what has long been considered a first class event, attendees expect a big party, but even bigger competition. Honored boat owners, captains, and anglers will be coming from all over to experience non-stop fishing action and high class living. Visit www.FishTheShootout.com for more information.

Come Memorial Day Weekend, fireworks will launch the Abaco Beach Resort & HMY Billfish Blast, May 31-June 4, a top-ranked tournament of camaraderie and competition. Celebrating its 11th season, the Billfish Blast continues to grow every year. Sign up soon, as participation is limited to ensure first-class treatment for all parties involved. Visit www.BillfishBlast.com for more information.

Next up, it’s the Abaco Beach Resort leg of the Bahamas Billfish Championship (BBC). Join the Abaco Beach Resort’s leg of the five-tournament series from June 9-12 to experience one truly unique tournament. Participants can accumulate points for sailfish, spearfish, white marlin and blue marlin, which in turn determines the overall BBC Champion for the year.

The Penny Turtle Invitational will be held June 15-19th in honor of Penny Turtle, a woman who has run Abaco Beach Resort’s tournaments for so many years. The tournament’s host, named “Queen of the Caribbean” by Southern Boating, is a living legend and the feature attraction. This unique invitational for her friends and loved ones will include numerous events, all with a truly lavish and vibrant flavor. More information is available at www.AbacoBeachResort.com.
